If you’re an American, there’s no dedicated coverage of Dutch soccer (the Dutch league, the Eredivisie; the Dutch national team, the Oranje, and everything in between). Sure, there are a lot of English-language pages. But they’re English. They don’t call it soccer, and so this is different. And I’m Dutch-American, dual citizenship and all. Here’s the thing: everything I write in this blog was going to exist in my head anyway. I read Voetbal International more than I look at social media. If someone’s going to fill this gap of coverage for us ‘Mericans, I think I’m an alright person to do it.

Why can you trust me?

Because I’m not doing this for you. Or for anyone. I’m doing this for me. And I hold too much respect for myself to ever mislead, deceive, or fabricate.

A few things:

  • My writing is completely AI-free.

  • I take accents, and umlauts, and everything in between, seriously. I think it’s a matter of respect to spell names the way they’re supposed to be spelled.

  • This blog, to me, is about accessibility. I want to be able to send this to someone who doesn’t watch soccer and still have them understand what’s going on.

    • Ideally, this starts a community of people who watch/follow/talk about the Eredivisie and Dutch soccer as a whole.

  • I’m doing this for fun. So expect it to be fun. :-)
